Inspired by Shake Shack's portobello burger – because it was so good, we decided to do a little experiment with similar ingredients. It is one that has a Cheese-topped Beef Patty topped with deep fried Portobello Strips, drizzled with Honey Mustard and a runny Sunny Side Up Egg. The love hate relationship with the burger is real and thus its name! People with tiny mouths will definitely find this relatable.
The Beautiful Mess has made its impactful journey with mBL from version 1.0 to its current iteration of 5.0. Did you know that along the many versions there were capsicums, chilli and grilled portobello (instead of deep fried) in it.
It was in the initial stages where the Beautiful Mess was a huge, juicy Portobello – BUT its juiciness caused a few unfortunate tongue burns. It was something we knew we had to improvise on because first things first, we couldn't risk any more customers getting hurt.
And so, the team decided to chop the portobello into three smaller pieces to be placed in the burger, in order to reduce the likelihood of any similar situations. So, the Beautiful Mess has definitely come a long way, going through various iterations and versions before becoming the Beautiful Mess we know and love today.
#mBLFunFact
At the test phase for the Beautiful Mess the burger was actually arranged with 2 huge Portobello's back to back with a Beef patty and an egg. What a bee – e a u – ti – ful mess indeed when you start diggín in.
We don't know about you, but we definitely love Hawaiian style pizzas, especially when there's a little spicy twist to it, whether it be from some Tabasco sauce, or chili flakes, or whatever spicy condiment takes your fancy. There's nothing much to say besides, it works. Meat, cheese, some sweet juicy pineapple with a little bit of spice to balance out the flavours. And so we thought, it works in a pizza, there's no reason it can't work in a burger.
The Ohana (and its chicken counterpart, which we named the Spicy Hawaiian) embodies our vision of a Hawaiian style burger that packs a little heat (or a lot, if you're up for that). A grilled Cheese-topped Beef Patty forming a beautiful cheese crust at the edge of the patty, alongside the usual lettuce and tomatoes, a light layer of mango mayo, some of our signature spicy red sauce, and a lightly grilled, juicy pineapple ring. We think it's the perfect balance of sweet and savoury, if this sounds like something along your wavelength, try it out and let us know what you think.
p/s: If you're up for something a little more on the spicy side, just tell the cashier you want your Ohana/Spicy Hawaiian 'HOT', and we'll add a little sriracha hot sauce to bring the heat up a notch or two.
It's not exactly what you're thinking… but its name does hold its own significance about how the burger came about! Just like every story, here goes...
As always, after a good fun night of drinks.. It was time to sober up and hence McD it was! Ah Chin would always have his only love… the Sausage Egg McMuffin, while his friends at the wee hours chose to have pancakes instead.
Imagine what it would be like at the moment, everyone seated with their meals on a tray in front of them… and in this case with their burgers, fries, soda and waffles. Famished, everyone just wanted to eat! And there was Ah Chin who would grab the maple syrup and drizzled it over his hash brown!
'Ewwwww' you said? Well, you're not alone, many others have had that same reaction before you. But this was how 'The Hangover' came to be at myBurgerlab. Don't knock it till you try it! It's a combination of Sweet and Savory that has a Beef patty, Mushrooms topped with a Crispy Hash Brown and Maple Syrup. So, if you like your burger sweet and crunchy, you know what to get the next time you're in line.
There are those who can't live without their favourite salty foods, and there are others who have sweet tooths so intense you start wondering how they maintain their figure. And then there are those who need their meals to do one thing for them, be spicy.
For those who have can't eat their noodles without cili padi, or always need to have extra sambal with their nasi lemak, or think the Spicy Chicken McDeluxe is the only burger made to cater to your masochistic tastebuds, The Bomb was created just for you.
With a generous amount of myBurgerLab's popular spicy Red sauce under our signature Cheese-topped Beef Patty, some sriracha hot sauce, onion rings and a sunny side up egg held together by a freshly baked bamboo charcoal bun, The Bomb will definitely be a hit with those who want something a little spicy (varies with individuals, some have said The Bomb is explosively spicy, and others have said it's 'okay lah').
While it's no challenger to the spiciness Samyang's Spicy Chicken Noodles, this burger should definitely be on your list of burgers to try next if you simply adore spicy foods.
The King of Rock & Roll had passionate love affairs with not just music and multiple women, but also with various interpretations of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Whether it was a pb&j sandwich that also had slices of deep fried bacon, or a pb&j casserole, Elvis travelled all over the United States to get his hands on them.
And so, in tribute to the King's unconditional love for Peanut butter and jelly, we created the Jammin w/ Elvis burger, as well his big brother the Fat Elvis. With our signature beef patty, a generous dollop of peanut butter and blueberry jelly, as well as caramelized onions, all held together in our freshly baked charcoal buns, the Elvis is a perfect combination of sweet and savoury.
Perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth, as well as anyone with a love for peanut butter and jelly. We would like to think the King would've given his seal of approval.

Years ago, we fell in love with a burger called the 2×2, an offering by American fast food franchise In-N-Out's secret menu. This very same burger was a part of our initial inspiration to becoming the burger joint that we have grown into today. The 2×2 is an 'animal-style' burger that has 2 beef patties that are seared with mustard, along with two slices of American cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and In-N-Out's secret sauce spread (which tastes a lot like Thousand Island Dressing). It was, what can only be called a 'unique experience', with the flavours coming together to create a burger with such a unique flavor profile due to the choice of ingredients and sauces, as well as the way the patties are seared with mustard.
And so, we decided to create our own interpretation of In-N-Out's offering to Malaysian audiences, with a little myBurgerLab twist of course. 2 Cheese-topped Beef Patty seared with mustard and our secret sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and thousand island sauce, all kept together in our freshly baked bamboo charcoal buns.
Definitely a treat for the big eaters who think single patty burgers aren't up to the task of defeating their hunger, the In-N-Out tribute can also be had with pickles at a small additional cost, should you prefer to have a little more tanginess with your meal. We think we did a pretty good job recreating the 'animal-style' cheeseburger, and we hope you will enjoy this burger as much as we enjoyed creating it.
A beef-bacon wrapped beef patty stuffed with cheese that will ooze out the moment you take a bite. Sounds like heaven doesn't it? Well to us, that sounds like the Juicy Lucy.
Although the concept of the Juicy Lucy burger isn't unique to myBurgerLab, it certainly holds a special place in our hearts. Our version of the Juicy Lucy came about during one of our Burger Battles, in which our geeks battle it out against each other to see who could create the most delicious and unique burger. Our various burger battles have seen many creative and delicious creations by our geeks, from Tom Yum inspired burgers to burgers which incorporated briyani rice into it's recipe.
However, only the most spectacular of these undoubtedly delicious creations make it into our menu, and the Juicy Lucy is definitely one of them. Wrapping beef patties with traditional bacon usually leads to the patties becoming too dry to be enjoyable to most, as traditional bacon usually takes longer to cook to perfection, however in the case of the Juicy Lucy, both our beef bacon, as well as our beef patty are cooked perfectly at the same time as a result of the cheese stuffed inside the beef patty. The cheese, when cooked and melted, provides moisture to the beef patty from the inside out, effectively preventing it from completely drying out while waiting for the bacon to be nice, dry and crispy.
Aside from the glorious beef bacon wrapped, cheese stuffed beef patty we keep talking about, the Juicy Lucy also has some lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and caramelized onions, along with a generous helping of Honey Mustard, all kept together by myBurgerLab's signature bamboo charcoal buns. Sounds like your cup of tea? We know we love it, so why don't you guys come on down and give the Juicy Lucy a try.
p/s: They're available in limited quantities everyday due to the slightly more complicated process of preparing the patty, so do come early to improve your chances of getting your hands on one
Malaysians are a fiercely patriotic lot, especially when it comes to food. We have good reason to be. If there's anything to be unequivocally proud of as a Malaysian, it's that we are recognised all across the world for fantastic local food.
We figured there was no better way to celebrate Us – the amalgamation of our ethnicities, the distinct differences in our cultures and heritage, our pride in local flavours, and our patriotism – than to share our interpretation of a timeless creation our forefathers have gifted us with. Also because ain't nobody gonna make a Malaysian classic better than a Malaysian!
Introducing the Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang burger.
The unmistakable aroma of santan in Nasi Lemak is what characterises our national dish – so we packed our rendang with lots of coconut and local herbs to make it rich and flavourful. This sauce rests atop a crunchy, juicy fried chicken thigh, crunchy ikan bilis. We never liked the limp, lifeless cucumber in typical nasi lemak bungkus, so here we use kyuri (Japanese cucumber), and pickle it to give our burger an extra zing. Can't have peanuts dropping on your shirt with every bite? No problem, peanut butter to the rescue! Finished with some crunchy crushed ikan bilis, a generous dollop of sambal and a good ol' sunny side up, our Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang burger promises to be as satiating as it is a mouthful to say.
We decided we would focus on giving our national dish the honour and respect it deserves. As you can see, no fancy tricks, there was no need to reinvent the wheel. We know Malaysians are passionate foodies, so we truly hope you enjoy our tribute to Nasi Lemak.
Oh, and there's rice flour in the bun somewhere. So really, the only thing missing is a banana leaf and some brown paper. And perhaps some Teh Tarik. Maybe after?
"Eh, jom mamak?"

For the clueless.. What is all this hype about? (Links attached below)
The Bait and Switch began as the brainchild of Wan Kar, an ex-myBurgerLab geek who is currently working with a restaurant in Singapore. She wanted to create a burger that was her very own, as well as a burger that borrowed some influence from Malaysian culture.
And one fine day, when Wan Kar was at myBurgerLab's central kitchen, she remembered a sauce she was tasked with preparing during her time pursuing her culinary education, and she set out to make her own interpretation of it. Replicating the sauce from what she remembered, and adding elements such as onions and birds eye chilis (otherwise known as 'cili padi') into the mix, myBurgerLab's Budu Mayo sauce was created.
The Budu Mayo sauce was paired with our fried chicken thigh patty with a slight lime zest, some sliced onions, and some fresh cilantro. And just like that, the Bait & Switch burger was born. paired with fresh Cilantro, sliced onions and a marinated fried chicken thigh in between a bamboo charcoal bun, and the Bait and Switch was born.
"Probably the tastiest chicken burger you'll ever taste. Maybe."
#FunFact:
Which came first? The chicken or the egg? We certainly don't know the answer to the question, neither do we have research that points in one direction or the other. What we do know however, is that fried chicken is delicious, and eggs taste amazing. Plus, in a delicious (and some might say cruel) twist, chickens and eggs go really well together on a plate (or bowl or whatever it is you serve your food on). And so we created the Chicken & Egg Dilemma burger, bringing the best of both chicken and eggs into one burger.
A Juicy Fried Chicken Patty with a melted slice of cheese and a generous helping of fluffy, creamy egg salad, accompanied by lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes, all held together by bamboo charcoal buns. The egg salad complements the fried chicken patty like the moon complements the night sky. Realizing that there wouldn't be one without the other, it doesn't matter which comes first, only that they taste really good together.
Some of you thought the Bulbasaur burger was named for the hype around the Pokemon Go mobile game didn't you? Well if you did, you're learning something new right now, it wasn't. In fact, the Bulbasaur's origin comes from a burger that wasn't Pokemon related at all. This burger had fried avocado on top of a beef patty, alongside the familiar seaweed mayo, green salsa and fried egg. This burger, was at the time called, The Hulk.
The Hulk was the brainchild of one of the co-founders, Chang Ming, and one of our geeks Huey May. Developed for one of myBurgerLab's burger battles (in which our geeks battle it out and see who can create the most unique and delicious burgers), The Hulk would later become the 'Whatever' burger when one of our geeks swapped out the beef patty for a fried chicken patty when a fellow geek told him that he wanted 'whatever lah' for his staff meal.
And then we decided that we needed to up our game and make Whatever burger something truly special, and so, the Bulbasaur was born.
To give it a more green, earthly taste, our Fried Chicken Patty is paired with warm melted cheese, a runny, sunny side up egg, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, as well as a generous helping of both green salsa sauce and seaweed mayo. As per usual myBurgerLab fare, the ingredients are held together by our signature bamboo charcoal bun.
p/s : Upgrade to the Ivysaur is possible, which has a juicy Fried Chicken Thigh patty instead of the usual fried chicken patty, but retains all the other elements present in the Bulbasaur.
We've always played around with an idea for a Salted Egg Yolk flavored burger as its gives a sense of familiarity to Malaysians and overtime we were assured there was a demand when we found out many of you had similar suggestions. In January 2016, that's when we managed to develop the burger idea into a reality. HOORAY!
Upon the first week of release, we had a lot of mixed feedback. some people loved the burger, but most were disappointed as they were looking for more salted egg "oomph" in the burger. Some also said that it wasn't creamy enough, while others said that there was too much curry leaves.
Knowing this, it fueled our co-founders, Ren Yi and Chang Ming, to meet up every night after shift to get R&D done in sight of achieving the one version that can satisfy as many as possible. All feedback given pushed the team (overcoming the frustration) to develop what is now the Salted Egg Yolk Burger.
The Salted Egg Yolk Burger is a burger that is assembled with a Fried Chicken Thigh, topped with Salted Egg Yolk Buttermilk sauce, infused with Cili Padi and blended Curry Leaf.

Vivien's Husband. Definitely a unique name for a burger wouldn't you say? Well, behind it's wacky name, lies a beautiful love story.
Originally called the Vege Beta burger due to the fact that it was the first vegetarian burger that we added to our menu, hence, being named the 'beta' version. We were unsure of how well the Vege Beta burger would do as compared to its meatier brethren. And yet, surprise surprise, it ended up having it's own significantly large fan base.
And then one day, our Vege Beta burger met the lips of one of our customers, Vivien. Vivien fell in love with the burger from the first bite. She proclaimed her love for the Vege Beta openly and publicly for the Vege Beta Burger, going as far as to say she wanted to marry the burger. And hence, in honour of Vivien, we decided to change the Vege Beta's name to Vivien's Husband.
Some people tell us they love myBurgerLab, and some people fall in love at myBurgerLab. Would you fit in either category? Well come visit us and find out for yourself.

Vivien's brother came to work with us as a part-time geek and he is still very proud that his sister confessed her love bravely.
Mushroom pick up line : "You should go out with me, I'm a fungi". Get it? Fungi? Like, fun guy?
No?
Okay, bad mushroom jokes aside, some people just love eating mushrooms. They're amazing, they come in so many different varieties, shapes, colours and sizes. Now imagine a burger with no meat, but a deep fried mushroom patty instead, topped with cheese, and, you guessed it, more mushrooms. Sounds like a mushroom lover's dream doesn't it? I guess you could say a burger like this doesn't leave mushroom (much room) for improvement.
Okay now that i'm completely out of mushroom puns, let's talk about the Shroom Shroom Shroom, definitely a burger for all the mushroom lovers out there. Given the name Shroom Shroom Shroom for the three types of mushrooms that are inside this burger, this burger is one of myBurgerLab's non-meat options.
A fried portobello patty sitting on a bed of lettuce and cherry tomatoes, some cheese, and a generous helping of Sautéed King & Enoki Mushrooms, all kept together by a freshly baked charcoal bun. Sure to be a treat for mushroom lovers, as well as those craving a meat-free burger fix.
