Renyi Recommends: Best Burgers in Klang Valley 2024 (APRIL)

Step into the ultimate burger adventure in Kuala Lumpur! This April, join us as we embark on a tantalizing journey featuring two delectable creations from myBurgerLab, accompanied by 1 other burger joint in KL that promise to captivate your taste buds.

MYBURGERLAB: The Katy Perry

April started off strong with an April Fools Burger called the Katy Perry Burger. It was a mind-boggling creation that was so ridiculous you want to believe it’s not true. The Katy Perry Burger is a spiced Fried Chicken Thigh topped with 2 dollops of Vanilla Ice Cream and then drizzled with Maple Syrup and Kulim Oil.

For those that aren’t in the know – Kulim is a local fruit/nut found in the wild jungles of our peninsula and has aromatic properties similar to mushroom, wild garlic and truffles. Applying this unique flavor profile into such an audacious burger was what made all the folks who tried it fall in love with this burger, so much so that the customers demanded that its availability be extended, and we gladly did.

MYBURGERLAB: The Masak Lemak BBQ Brisket

The second burger on our monthly blog feature happens to be a LTO (Limited Time Offering) Burger too! In light of the Raya festivities, we served up a Masak Lemak BBQ Brisket Burger with the option to add 3 levels of Sambal Geprek for those who love heat.

The burger consist of Beef ‘Baecan’, Shredded Brisket, Pickles, Beef Patty with Cheese and our Thicc Masak Lemak Sauce. It’s Hari Raya in a bite if I have to say so myself.

Unfortunately, as April has come to a close, these 2 burgers have also come off our menu and will make an appearance again sometime next year. But do keep an eye out for our next crazy creation that’ll test the limits of your tastebuds!

RENYI’S APRIL TOP PICK

When I’m not savoring our burgers at myBurgerLab, you’ll find me on the hunt for some of the delectable burgers across KL. Here is my top personal recommendation for the month of April if you’re seeking out some of the great burgers in KL/Selangor to be had. This time, instead of focusing on a local burger joint, I choose to pay tribute to one of the great American Burger Joints that inspired our journey in the early days: Shake Shack!

As most Malaysians (in KL) already know by now, Shake Shack just opened up its doors this April at TRX and just wowed everyone with the standards they have set.

Now, if you asked me, Shake Shack is an institution that is known for serving up great fundamentally sound burgers, fries and shakes. You just can’t go wrong with it and it’s hard to find faults in what they do. Creativity may not be their strongest strength, but if you want a good cheeseburger done right, served with a side of salted fries and a creamy shake, this is the place to be. So, I highly advise everyone to set their expectations before heading in to Shake Shack. If you want more localized flavors and more robust complex flavors, there are plenty of OG local burger joints who do that very well.

We were fortunate enough to be invited for a visit during their pre-launch (Friends and Family) session and everything that they do just wow-ed me. I learned a lot about setting expectations to a hyped-up crowd, over the top customer service and setting a welcoming ambience through little touches around the stores. Ok, maybe I’m just a fanboy, but please don’t let me overhype it. Go experience it yourself and set a manageable expectation. This place is an institution. It makes great basic cheeseburgers. My hope is that one day, maybe they see us as equals and open up an opportunity to collab and work on something together.

Location: Plaza The Exchange TRX, PL.11.0, Persiaran TRX, Imbi, 55188 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
Hours: 10am-10pm Daily

Disclaimer:
While these are my recommendations, do take note that your enjoyment of these burgers during your visit depends on said establishment’s consistency, your palate preference on that day and of course overall service experience. Don’t come knocking on my door if you had a less than savory visit 😇
